Tooth Whitening

Nowadays it is possible to achieve a signicant and predictable improvement in the whiteness of your teeth by the use of professional tooth whitening systems. This can be done at home or in the surgery but the results achieved will be the same.

Home Whitening

A gel is applied to the front surfaces of the teeth by the use of small whitening trays, (a little like small gums shields) which are worn on the teeth. The trays are worn at home for up to 2 hours a day and the process usually takes around 3 weeks in total to achieve the desired result.

In-Surgery Whitening

For those who prefer a quicker result the process can be speeded up by using the In-Surgery technique which uses a more concentrated gel and takes about an hour. This is followed by a few days of home application to achieve the full effect.

With both techniques the whitening trays can be used in the future to "top up" the whiteness should it start to fade with time. In this way the improvement can be maintained indefinitely. The "top up" gel is available from the practice reception.
