Root Canal Treatment – RCT

RCT is a highly successful alternative to extracting an infected tooth.  RCT is a routine procedure required when the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected.  If the tooth is not treated it will remain painful and an abscess could form.  At the first treatment the infected pulp is removed and the tooth is thoroughly cleaned.  Antiseptic is applied and a temporary filling put in place to allow time for healing.  On the second visit a week later, the tooth is checked for signs of infection, cleaned again and then permanently filled.
