It is important for parents to bring their children to the Dentist with them as soon as possible. This prepares them for future visits, the earlier the visits begin the more relaxed the children will be. You should then take them for regular check ups as often as the Dentist recommends.
Cleaning your childs teeth should be a part of their daily hygiene routine and should begin as soon as the first teeth start to come through.
Try to limit sugary or acidic food and drinks to mealtimes only and if you want to give your child a snack try to stick to cheese, vegetables and fresh fruit.
It is important to supervise the cleaning until your child is at least seven. Once all of the teeth have come through use a small-headed soft toothbrush in small circular movements concentrating on one area at a time. Remember to brush behind teeth and onto the gums. If you can make tooth brushing a routine in the morning and last thing before your child goes to bed.
Always encourage your child and praise them as this will often get results.

- Stay Calm.
- Find the tooth immediately.
- Gently rinse under running tap or cold milk to remove any large dirt particles.
- Avoid scraping the root, and try to hold the tooth by the crown (the other end to the pointy bit).
- Replace the tooth as quickly as possible with the pointy surface going into the socket first and the crown end facing out into the mouth. (Place as far into the socket as possible until level with the other teeth, a child will normally stop you as it will be sore before it is fully seated into place.)
- Keep the tooth in place by asking the child to bite on a piece of cloth.
- Seek an immediate dental consultation and treatment (Emergency Dental Service) or go to the Accident and Emergency Unit as soon as possible.
If you cannot replace the tooth at the site of th injury:
- 1. Avoid scraping the root, put the tooth in a moist environment (preferably some cold milk) and arrive as soon as possible at the dentist for consultation and treatment (Emergency Dental Service) or go to the Accident and Emergency Unit as soon as possible.

There are a number of reasons you may choose to have dental implants:
Implants are an alternative to conventional bridges and partial dentures.
If you find that you denture moves around alot in your mouth, implants may help to anchor the denture in place.
When you lose teeth, your jawbone may start to shrink. Implants can help to slow down this process.
Your dentist my recommend using implants to support a bridge rather than affecting healthy teeth either side of the gap.

For the 1 in 4 people in the UK who snore – and their partners – the condition is no laughing matter. But relief is at hand with Therasnore Zx Snoreless, a revolutionary appliance that completely eliminates snoring in 92% of users. The Zx is now available at Tavistock Drive Dental Practice.
The Zx is a simple mouthpiece that the snorer wears at night. It is fitted to the upper jaw, with a short ‘post’ holding the lower jaw forward, while still allowing it to move up and down and from side to side. This means that the discomfort associated with some other appliances is avoided.
Once in use the effect of the Zx is immediate, and users and their partners experience increased energy levels after finally getting a good night’s sleep.
Snoring can put a huge pressure on relationships, with snorers and their partners frequently affected by tiredness and irritability. Many don’t realise that there is also an increased risk of strokes and cardiovascular disease associated with snoring.
So if you’re a snorer and want to protect your health and your partner, and you want to wake up feeling more rested and energentic, the Zx could be just what the dentis ordered.
